Well, unfortunately Jamie, who is 39 weeks pregnant and absolutely dying to be a mommy, didn't go into labor, but we all had a great weekend nonetheless! It was our last weekend of until our anniversary in July (thank you Jason for thinking to x that one off so we can do something fun, by the way!), and after that, it's the last one off for pretty much forever! Not that I'm complaining mind you... Busy is good!
Anyway, the weather actually cooperated for once, and we had a full and lovely weekend! Let me run down the events for you. Since I last blogged we:
1. Bought a Suburban (with cash!! Thank you, Dave Ramsey!) Now we can strap the boards on top, pop a trailer on the back, load up all the kids (and two of their friends if we wanted!), and drive out to Colorado with plenty of space leftover for luggage and legroom. Woo-hoo!
2. Walked around Gulley Park to try (in vain) to get Jamie to go into labor
3. Found a random and adorable puppy in Gulley Park who was wandering around with a leash and no owner.
4. Searched all over creation and Craigslist for the puppy's owner
5. Temporarily named said puppy Esther June Hudson.
6. Fell completely in love with said puppy (who we CANNOT keep even if we don't find her owners, since we have 2 parents, 4 kids, 3 cats and 4 frogs living in this house already!)
7. Went to Common Grounds for a lovely lunch with Jamie
8. Hiked around the Lake Fayetteville Trail with both babies and Esther in tow
9. Canvassed the park once more for Esther's parents
10. Spent a lot of time cuddling on the couch and watching movies enjoying the perfect bliss of having nowhere in particular to be!
I think that pretty much covers it! : )
Anyway, if you know someone who is missing a tiny adorable chihuahua/rat terrier type dog (or someone who would like to adopt her if her owners don't show up!), please drop me a line! In the meantime, here are a few iPhone photos of our adventures!!

Oooh, and also, over the past couple of weeks, I have been redecorating our bedroom, and I absolutely LOVE the way it is turning out! I will post pictures when it is finished.
Anyway, i8t was a great weekend, and the fun continues today! For Jason's birthday, I arranged a babysitter and picked up a couple of tickets to the Lady Gaga concert at the Bok Center in Tulsa for tonight. The seats are AMAZING, and we can't wait!!! Just keep your fingers crossed that Jamie DOESN'T go into labor tonight! Any time after that would be great though. : )
Happy Monday, everyone!!

Hi, I was wondering why you don't post other pictures of your other children Bear and Autumn when you are out and about.
ReplyDeleteWell this question strikes me as a little confrontational and rude, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt since you clearly aren't familiar with our family.
ReplyDeleteIf you did know me, you would know that I take and post pictures of Autumn and Bear all the time. The only reason they weren't in this weekend's post is that they were at their Dad's house. He has them every other weekend.
I think the reason this question rubbed me the wrong way is that it seemed to imply that I was not as interested in Autumn and Bear or didn't love them as much or something... Which if you are a mother yourself, you know very well that the very idea that you don't love all of your kids equally is offensive because you love them all so much that you just almost can't stand it!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, because I am a little crazy slash OCD, I decided to take a cue from my days of working at the Dem-Gaz and perform a "tally" of my blog. Back at the paper, we kept a tally of how often each person appeared in our section so that we could try to keep our coverage relatively balanced, and also just because it was interesting to know. Part of my job was to tabulate the results at the end of each year and create a section that listed every person who had been pictured and how many times. So I went back through every blog post I have made from the very beginning, and here were the results:
Autumn - 396 pictures, 5 videos
Bear - 383 pictures, 8 videos
Norah - 325 pictures, 6 videos
Shiloh - 144 pictures, 2 videos
Now I realize that how many times a person is pictured is absolutely no reflection of how you feel about them, but I just thought you might like to know that the coverage of the kids is actually spread out pretty evenly. They are never going to be exactly even, because all of the kids are home different amounts (big kids are at school all day and at their dad's every other weekend, Norah goes to Kids' Day Out 2 mornings a week, etc.) and they all have different activities that lend themselves to pictures. But they are different people who are doing different things, so it only makes sense that sometimes some of them would show up more than others.
You may not have intended your statement to imply anything negative, and if I read it wrong, then that's great, but in case you did, please rest assured that I love all of my kids like crazy! I spend lots of time with all of them, and I'm very involved with all of their activities and pay individual attention to each of them at every chance I get.
So I guess that's my vent for the day... And if you didn't intend it to be an attacking question, then next time you might avoid sending that kind of message to people you don't know. It makes you come off as a bit mean!
I have a son from a previous relationship and one on the way with my husband of 2 years, and the fact that people could ever think I love one more than the other angers me and scares me to think that people actually could think that way. When I read the initial comment my first thought was "well, that was the first weekend of the month, and mine was with his dad..." so as a mother in a similar situation I know where you are coming from. When you have more children you don't divide your love, you just multiply it. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great way to put it, Candace! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't mean it that way. I was trying to find out if your other kids spend time with someone else doing these weekends you don't show pictures of them. My wording just came out wrong. I am so sorry I didn't mean to come off as being rude. I am a great fan and have read all your of your blog since finding it last month. Sorry again.
ReplyDeleteOkay I have re-read your post again. I feel so bad I never want you to think that you don't love your kids. I myself am pregnant and I won't someone to think this of me. I am truly sorry. ( I'm about to break out in tears now, sorry) I was just tying to learn more out your family. I not very tactful about writing as my ADHD make things worse for social stuff. I am againsorry.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about it! I didn't mean to be paranoid... It's just one of those things that tends to get me riled up a little... I have actually had people ask me before if I love Norah and Shiloh more since I am married to their dad (which is RIDICULOUS!), or if I love the girls more since I have more in common with them (also RIDICULOUS!!). It is just one of those things that gets me all riled up!
ReplyDeleteI didn't mean to make you almost cry, and I apologize for reading too much into what you said. Please don't even give it a second thought! And now you know why some weekends they're here and some weekends they're not!
The same goes for holidays, although their dad and I have a very amicable relationship, and we try to work it out to where we both get to see them for Christmas, birthdays, etc., whenever possible.
But seriously, please don't even give any of this a second thought! Sometimes I can be a little overly defensive about things when it comes to my kiddos. Thank you for explaining what you meant! No worries, and good luck with your baby!! : )
Thanks, I'm glad your not upset. And I look forward to reading more about your family.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever find Esther's parents? She is very cute! Maybe you should loan her to Jamie for a few days and let Jamie chase after her...would that start some labor?
ReplyDeleteI'm bummed that Julie and I missed you at the concert Monday. But it was nice to see Jason! I enjoyed all the pics on Facebook because I took that "no cameras" rule on the tickets a little too seriously. :)
