Settling In

We are blissfully settling in to a routine around here. Shiloh eats faithfully every hour and a half or so, and there is even a time in the afternoon where both babies sleep and I get to sit on the couch and breathe for a minute! : ) Most of our time is still spent cuddling on the couch all getting to know each other. The couch doesn't seem so bad when you're on it for fun instead of by force! Here are a few pictures from this afternoon.

I also finally managed to bring myself to cut Shiloh's precious little hospital bracelet off!

I think I might have just left it on forever were it not for the fact that we had a doctor's appointment this morning and I was afraid the doc might think I was completely batty if it was still on! Speaking of doctor's appointments, he is already up to 5 pounds, 1 ounce. All those hour-and-a-half feedings are apparently working! In case you're keeping track, this means he gained 3 ounces in 2 days. Super baby!

On another note, our new house has an adorable little garden patch in the back yard, and at first we were afraid that we moved in too late in the growing season to be able to plant anything in it this year. But then my brother-in-law Joe brought over some tomato, sweet potato and pepper plants for us to play with. Jason planted them, and I'm not sure about the fate of the peppers or the sweet potatoes, but we were delighted to get back from the hospital and discover that we were growing some tomatoes! I absolutely adore home-grown tomatoes, so I am pretty pleased with this development.

We are also extremely thankful that our friend Allison has started a food tree for us. Starting on the day we came home from the hospital, she has different people signed up to bring us dinner every day through August 18. I feel overwhelmed with everyone's generosity! Last night we had yummy turkey spaghetti with homegrown salad and French bread from Stephani Jungmeyer and family, and it was delicious. I just can't thank everyone enough!

Speaking of thanking, I had better get started on my thank you notes asap or I am going to lose track! I am also having the opportunity to do all the "nesting" that I missed out on while living on the couch. It is wonderful to be able to finally start getting things arranged the way that I want them. Next on the agenda: curtains and a rug for the living room. I'm thinking I might try Pier 1 because I have a handy dandy gift card to go in on a purchase there.

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
